PV High Lites - October 11, 2019

posted Oct 11, 2019, 11:04 AM by Kristi Lainhart   [ updated Oct 11, 2019, 11:06 AM ]
Please read the High Lites to learn more about what's going on at the High School!

If your son/daughter feels ill during the school day, he/she must report to the nurse.  If the nurse determines that your student should go home you will receive a call from the school.  Please remind your student that if he/she bypasses the nurse and calls you to go home, that will be an unexcused dismissal/absence.

The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday Oct 16th to those students who have previously signed up.  The exam will begin at 7:50am and run until approximately 11:20 that day. Students must bring at least two number 2 pencils and a calculator. (they may not use their phone or chromebook).  We will follow the schedule below.

  •  AM tech students who are not taking the exam report to Tech as they always do, however they will need to report to the study hall in the cafeteria upon their return to school (we will still be in period 3 at that time.)
  • PM tech students are to report to period 4 lunch. Their 4/5/6 teachers are aware that they will not be in class that day.

The Homecoming Dance is coming!!!  This dance is a semi-formal event. The dance is for eligible PV students and their pre-approved guest (one). The Homecoming Dance will be held here in the High School Competition Gym on Saturday, October 19th from 7-10pm.  Tickets will be on sale next week during lunches and must be purchased in advance.  Student debts MUST be cleared before they will be sold a ticket.  Tickets will be $10 each.  Students must bring their ID to the dance in order to get in and also wear shoes the entire night. I suggest that comfortable shoes either be worn or an extra pair brought with students.  The music boosters will provide an area for students to store their belongings during the dance.

On Thursday, November 14th, we will host our annual Future Readiness Event (formerly called Career/Volunteer Fair).  This event is an opportunity for all of our students to actively engage in activities to prepare them for life beyond high school.  Please consider joining us and sharing your experiences. Here is the registration link.  (The deadline to register to offer a workshop is 10/23/19.)  If you need more information, feel free to contact Patti Colucci at pcolucci@pvsd.org.
