Dear Parent /Guardian,

It is amazing that we are just about half way through the current school year! Soon (not until spring) I will be sending information to senior parents and students about the Senior Walk, Senior Awards, Scholarships won and Commencement.  This is a great time of the year, even with the cold weather and possible snow.

Please join us for our next Be a Part of the Conversation workshop -- "Isolation: The New Drug of Choice". This informative presentation will be held Thursday, Jan. 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library. The effects of social isolation on mental health are overwhelmingly negative. According to adolescent therapists, parents frequently mention they have to beg their teens to get out of the house to see friends, instead of enforce curfews. Justin Levin, M.A., CAADC will talk with parents about how they can encourage young people to stop isolating. Register at pv-isolation.eventbrite.com.

Save the date for our upcoming Day of Service on Jan. 20, 2020.  HIgh School students can sign up for various service opportunities now Day of Service High School Opportunities. We are looking forward to working with all our young volunteers to serve others in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

On January 28th we will not be sending students to the tech school due to their Skills Competition. Those participating that day at MCCC should arrive by 8am. Tech school students not participating in the competition that day should follow a PV in, Tech out schedule. (AM students can arrive by 10:30am if they have a ride in - must sign in at front office and PM students may leave at noon. AM or PM students who will be at PV all day are to attend study hall for the periods they are normally assigned to the tech school).

Program Planning for the 20-21 school year will begin soon!  The updated program planning guide is now online.  Please read through the guide as there is important information about requirements, deadlines, and of course, the course descriptions. Our next extended homeroom will provide students with additional information about the program planning process.

We have some exciting new courses/electives for the upcoming year: Industrial Print Graphics 2, Music 101, Football 1, and Football 2. These are  joining last year’s additions of Peer Buddies, App Design Studio, Social Media in the Business World, Personal Finance, Psychology, and Modern Middle East.  Read through the guide to find out more about each of these courses.
