High Lites Nov 1

posted Nov 1, 2019, 8:49 AM by Cyndi Moss

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Don’t forget to turn back your clocks this weekend!

The first marking period is quickly coming to an end. The last day of the marking period is Nov 1 and report cards will be available in HAC at noon on Nov 11th. Please note that the distribution date does reflect a change from the initial date reported.

Join us Monday night, Nov 4th for our annual Powder Puff Football game in the stadium.  Gates open at 6pm (game begins at 7pm) and tickets are $5. Our senior lady Vikings are looking to avenge their spirit week loss to the juniors. Do they have what it takes?

The HS staff will not call you to ask for money for college prep/testing programs. Please be aware that any calls you receive regarding this type of thing are not affiliated with PV in any way.

This Spring, PVHS will Present Shrek, The Musical.  Auditions for the PVHS Musical will be held Tuesday, November 19th at  2:30 pm to 6:30 pm and Wednesday November. 20th 2:30pm to 6:30pm, with Call Backs Thursday, November 21st 2:30pm to 6:30 pm.   Students who missed the initial meeting can get an audition packet from Mr. Griffie in Room 144.

All of our students should now have an ID for the 19-20 school year.  All students and staff are expected to wear their IDs each day.  Students who forget their IDs at home are to report to the main office for a temporary ID.  Students will receive a detention upon the third time they have forgotten their ID. Students who are refusing to wear their ID or forget extremely often will be facing further discipline. Thank you for encouraging your student to have their ID.

Our next extended “homeroom” will take place on Nov 7th in the morning.  We will be using part of this time for our juniors and seniors to register for workshops for our Future Ready Conference.  Please see the tentative list of workshops.  We will be following this schedule:

We will be holding a lockdown/Run Hide Fight drill in the coming weeks. PVTV programming will include information for students and staff prior to the drill.  We will send you more information in November.

The farmer’s almanac is predicting an interesting winter with several major  snow storms. The district calendar does have 3 snow days built into it. In the event that we have more than 3 snow days, we will add days to the end of the year.  Final exams are the LAST THREE days of the year, regardless of when that is.  Please be cognizant of this when you are planning your get-a-aways in June. We do not offer early exams for students who will be absent for exams nor will we approve educational trips during exams.  Student’s who are not in school for their final exam will need to make up the exam within two weeks of the exam date.

Conference time is right around the corner.  We will have our conferences on Nov 25th and 26th.  There will be evening conferences available on the 25th.  Please be on the lookout for information from each teacher about these days.
