Good afternoon,

On Tuesday October 16th we have a half day for students. Students will be dismissed at 11:30.  AM tech students will attend the tech school normal times. When they return to PV they will go to their period 9 class.  PM tech students will not be sent to the tech school. Those who have rides may leave after period 6. The PM tech students who do not have rides will need to attend study hall until dismissal time. We will not be serving lunches.

Half Day- NO lunches served

10:00- 10:27

Yesterday our students had an assembly period where our 9th graders met with their Link Leaders, the 10th and 11th graders received a lesson on mental health, along with a mindfulness exercise and our seniors had an assembly about graduation announcements (Student Services presented) and the graduation project.

Seniors who may have missed the assembly can pick up the graduation announcement packet in the main office.  Please be sure to go to sscgradstore.com to view Perk Valley's Official Custom Announcement and place your order online, or return your paper order to the main office by October 24th.To avoid late fees and product restrictions, please be sure to place your order by the deadline.

Here is a link to a video with a quick recap of the senior assembly. Here is a link for the slides for the presentation for the seniors.  This will also be posted on their Class of 2019 page.

Here are links to what our 10th and 11th graders participated in.

Today was the last day to purchase tickets for the homecoming dance (Oct 13th)  Tickets WILL NOT be sold at the door.  The dance begins at 7pm and ends at 10pm.   This dance is open to PVHS students in good standing (not on debt or privilege suspension lists) and the dance runs from 7pm-10pm in our competition gym.

This is not a formal dance (no gowns and tuxes), but most students do get dressed up a little.  Just a reminder, that shoes must be worn at all times while at the dance and students must present their school ID to get in. This dance is sponsored by the Music Boosters.

Don’t forget, if you are trying to make a payment on Home Access Center, you MUST turn off your pop-up blocker!

At this point, all students should have an ID card. Students who were absent during the picture days have been given a temporary ID which will expire on Oct 24th, picture makeup day.  Those students must get their picture taken that day in order to get an ID.

Please emphasize with your student the importance of wearing their ID.  This is in an effort to make the HS an even safer place. Students who do not wear their IDs will ultimately face school discipline and risk the loss of privileges including parking and prom. Let’s avoid going down that road, so please encourage your student to wear their ID.

All students are required to have their ID visible at all times (not during PE or when in a shop class where the ID becomes a safety issue). They were given a lanyard, but don’t need to use the one given to them. They can also get a clip if they prefer. All we ask is that the ID is visible to everyone.

Thank you to all who attended the Financial Aid Information Night and FAFSA Completion Night last week.  Some of you asked for a  copy of the presentation

If you have questions about financial aid and the FAFSA please contact your student’s counselor.

Please join us on Thursday October 18th at 6:30pm for a conversation about Vaping. We’ll be joined by Patrick Dowling, LPC, a licensed clinician who works with adolescents and young adults. We will also be joined by a prevention specialist from Caron Treatment Center. Please see the website for more information about the  Vaping Conversation.

We are seeing more students engaging in this dangerous practice. Be aware that vaping  and/or possession of vaping products are against board policy and students who violate this policy will face school discipline.

We need YOU!  Our annual Career and Volunteer Fair is on Thursday, November 15th (7:30-10:30AM).  The success of this event relies on a wide variety of participants.  Please consider sharing your interests (career or volunteer) with our students.  Here is the registration link.  For more information, contact Patti Colucci at pcolucci@pvsd.org.  Thank you!
