Good afternoon,

Please remind your student that they need to report to the nurse’s suite if they are not feeling well. The nurses will contact parents if a student needs to be sent home. Dismissal from the nurse’s office is an excused absence.  Per the student handbook, the ill student’s dismissal will be considered an unexcused absence if the ill student contacts their parent/guardian on their own prior to reporting to the nurse or does not report to the nurse.

American Education Week is a celebration of public education and the people who contribute to our students’ success. Please join us in this celebration by making plans to stop by one of our schools on Parent Visitation Day. All of our schools will be welcoming parents to visit on Wednesday, Nov. 14. Times are:

Elementary Schools: 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Middle Schools and High School: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A few notes for parents:

We cannot make accommodations for parents to eat lunch or attend recess with their children.

Volunteer clearances are not necessary to visit on this day, but you will need to be prepared to show your driver’s license when you sign in at your child’s school.

Please do not bring younger siblings along for the visit.

Please be respectful of student privacy issues and refrain from capturing photos/ video during your visit.

CAREER & VOLUNTEER FAIR - Thursday, November 15th

The annual Career & Volunteer Fair is quickly approaching. Here is a link for some information (eg: student schedule).  Juniors and Seniors were emailed a link on Thursday, October 25th to register for workshops.  Once a workshop is filled, that option will be removed from the available list. Seniors will register for two workshops and Juniors will register for one workshop.  All Juniors and Seniors are asked to please complete the registration ASAP. If they do not complete it, a workshop will be assigned to them (which we prefer not to do).  Students will need to be logged into their PVSD.org account in order to complete the registration.

We still need YOU!  The success of this event relies on a wide variety of participants.  Please consider sharing your interests (career or volunteer) with our students.  Here is the registration link.  Participant registration is wrapping up, please sign up now.

We are especially in need of more volunteer organizations.  Our students are always eager to hear about how they can give back to their community, the Volunteer Fair is one way to connect with a large number of students.

For more information about the Career and Volunteer Fair, contact Patti Colucci at pcolucci@pvsd.org.  Thank you!

Conferences will be held on November 19th and 20th. This year, the high school will be offering opportunities for parents to meet after regular school hours on Monday November 19th.  Should you wish to have a conference with a teacher, please contact that teacher directly.  You can find the email addresses of all staff members on our website (most staff email addresses are the teacher’s first initial and last name @pvsd.org.

A draft of Perkiomen Valley School District's comprehensive plan was approved at the Oct. 1 School Board work session, and has been posted for public review online. Hard copies of the draft will also be available at the District Office (3 Iron Bridge Drive), all schools, as well as at the Perkiomen Valley Library. Should you have comments to share about the draft plan, please submit them to Laurie Smith, Assistant to the Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction. Following this period of public review, the plan will be voted on again by the School Board in November and then submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

The PVSD community is invited to the Facilities Committee meetings that have been scheduled for Oct. 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. While the focus of the discussion will be on South Elementary School’s facility needs, we are inviting the entire community because the options being considered will likely affect our district as a whole. Some proposed options may have an impact on other buildings, while others may have a significant impact on the budget. We invite you to attend and learn more and provide us with your feedback. The same information will be presented each evening.
