Dear Parents/Guardians,

There is always a lot going on here at the HS and in an effort to keep these emails at a reasonable length I am posting a copy of these emails on the  High Lites Webpage for your future reference.  If you are looking for some information from a previous week you can enter the term(s) into the search bar at the top of the page.

We will be following a PM assembly schedule on Sept 24th.  All four grades will have activities planned for them.

9:24-10:09(attendance and announcements at the beginning)

PM assembly

Grade 9th will meet with their Link Leaders in their homeroom

Grade 10 will go to the auditorium for a class ring assembly

Grade 11 will participate in a career activity in Naviance (they need their chromebook and earbuds (if possible)

Grade 12 will have a senior assembly to discuss all things senior year including graduation project, career study, important senior dates, etc

The Senior picture will be taken during period 3 on Sept 24th. Students are reminded to wear their senior shirt. They will be going outside for this picture.

SAVE THE DATE:  FAFSA Completion Night is Thursday, October 3rd from 6:30-8:30 pm in the high school library. Be on the lookout for additional information from the counseling center.

PSAT sign-ups for 10th and 11th graders will begin Wednesday, September 18.  Please complete this form to indicate that your student will take the PSAT.  Registration will run from Sept. 18th - Oct. 11th. The $25 registration fee will be added to your HAC account and will be DUE no later than Oct. 11th.  Once added to your account (it is not automatic, please allow some time), the fee can be paid online through HAC or it can be paid in person in the Counseling Center by cash or check made out to PVHS.

It is highly recommended that students in 11th grade take the PSAT if they intend on going to college.

The test will be given during school on Wed. Oct. 16th during periods 1,2 and 3.  Seats are limited so be sure to register ASAP.

If your son/daughter is going to be absent please notify the HS attendance office by 8:30am the day of the absence. You can send an email to the HS attendance email or call the attendance phone line.  All absences must be followed up by a written note or email from a registered email address in order to be excused.

Attendance Phone: Dial (610) 489-1230 and press #3

The academic help after school bus is now running on Tuesdays and Thursdays for any student who is staying after school for after school help or an academic activity. Students will need to obtain a bus pass from their teacher or advisor. The bus departs from the steps of the student parking lot at 4pm.

Our clubs are beginning to have their initial meetings of the year.  You can find information about the clubs under the HS web page under activities.  The schedule of club meetings can be found on the morning announcements.

Please remind your student that they need to report to the nurse’s suite if they are not feeling well. The nurses will contact parents if a student needs to be sent home. Dismissal from the nurse’s office is an excused absence.  Per the student handbook, the ill student’s dismissal will be considered an unexcused absence if the ill student contacts their parent/guardian on their own prior to reporting to the nurse or does not report to the nurse.

Eligibility for athletics and activities begins this week. In order to participate in school-sponsored athletic or activity events, students must maintain a passing average for the marking period in all scheduled subjects. A student’s average for every subject, at any given time, must be 60% or above for the student to be considered eligible. The eligibility list will be run every Friday. Students who are found to be ineligible are not able to participate for a period of one week, beginning on Sunday through Saturday.  Students who have not passed all courses in the previous marking period shall be ineligible for 15 school days into the new marking period.
